4 Teams Who Could Show Trade Interest in Browns' Myles Garrett

The Detroit Lions have understandably been one of the top names mentioned when it comes to possible trade suitors for Cleveland Browns superstar edge rusher Myles Garrett, who requested a trade on Monday.

Garrett took to social media to make his demand public. Of course, he’s looking for a situation in which he can win a Super Bowl, something the Browns aren’t remotely close to being able to provide.

Cleveland Browns' Myles Garrett named to 2024-25 NFLPA Players' All-Pro team

“While I’ve loved calling this city my home, my desire to win and compete on the biggest stages won’t allow me to be complacent,” he wrote. “The goal was never to go from Cleveland to Canton, it has always been to compete for and win a Super Bowl. With that in mind, I have requested to be traded from the Cleveland Browns.”

While Garrett wants out, reports suggest the Browns aren’t interested in trading him. But given the public nature of the six-time Pro Bowler’s request, it’s easy to imagine the Browns eventually caving to his demand.

As far as the Lions are concerned, it makes sense to speculate about them as a landing spot. After all, they need edge rush help opposite Aidan Hutchinson and Garrett will not only check that box, he’d take Detroit’s unit to an entirely different level and would seriously help the Lions’ Super Bowl chances.

Garrett is in town for the Super Bowl and was hitting up radio row on Wednesday. And, as you’d expect, someone asked him about possibly playing for the Lions. However, Garrett didn’t bite.

“Myles Garrett making the rounds on radio row here at the Super Bowl, not taking trade questions,” Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press wrote on X. “Asked him if he has any thoughts on playing for the Lions as he went from interview to interview, politely said: ‘Not yet.'”

With his trade request still fresh, and with him still being under contract with the Browns, it’s understandable why he responded that way.

But one would assume that Garrett at least has his eye on the Lions, a team that would give him a chance to win a Super Bowl. We’d also suspect Garrett would like the idea of lining up across from Hutchinson, who can take pressure off him unlike anyone Garrett has ever played with.

Something that’s key to point out, though, is that Garrett doesn’t have a no-trade clause, so the Browns can trade him wherever they want. That said, it’s safe to assume that the Browns will at least try to honor Garrett’s wishes.
