As the Kansas City Chiefs continue climbing up the ladder, they are enduring intense scrutiny and hatred from a huge portion of the NFL Community. But while gearing for the Super Bowl LIX, Patrick Mahomes finally understood where all the hate came from as he grew up being part of that.
After becoming two-time Super Bowl defending champions, when the elite quarterback set his eyes on the unprecedented three-peat, many considered it to be a stretch. However, with a 15-2 season record and AFC No. 1 seed, he and the Chiefs are standing at the brink of making history after qualifying for their third consecutive Super Bowl game.
While addressing the questions about the intense animosity directed at him and his team, Mahomes revealed that he was once among those haters during his childhood. He admitted being frustrated by Tom Brady’s New England Patriots, who were dominating the league much like the Chiefs do now. And thus, he understands the frustrated fans.
However, now Mahomes listened to the NFL legend more than ever, sharing that he learned a lot from him. Having Chiefs being one of the most hated teams in the league has only made the superstar quarterback stronger as he embraced the role of the “villain,” believing it’s a byproduct of success.
Heading for the third consecutive and fifth Super Bowl in six years, Mahomes is said to dethrone Brady from the title of Greatest of All Time upon completing the historic three-peat. However, the seven-time Super Bowl champion, who is set to broadcast the Super Bowl for Fox Sports, appreciated the success of Mahomes-led Chiefs which would become “unmatched” with the three-peat.

While talking on the subject, the Fox Sports analyst empathized with Mahomes and Kansas City for what they are going through with all the hatred and scrutiny. That’s why he is wholeheartedly impressed by the Chiefs for chasing excellence, which he cheers for more than anything else.
