In the wake of a challenging season that concluded with a 6-10 record, San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan has addressed the team’s performance and expressed his commitment to the fans. The season’s final game, a 40-34 loss to the Detroit Lions on December 30, 2024, marked a disappointing end to a year filled with unmet expectations.
Reflecting on the season, Shanahan stated, “I understand the frustration and disappointment among our fans. This season did not meet the standards we set for ourselves, and I take full responsibility for that.”
Despite the team’s struggles, 49ers owner Jed York has affirmed his confidence in both Shanahan and General Manager John Lynch. York emphasized, “They’re not going anywhere. You can write that. They’re not going anywhere.”
Looking ahead, Shanahan is focused on rebuilding and strengthening the team for the upcoming season. He pledged, “We are committed to making the necessary adjustments and improvements. Our goal is to come back stronger and deliver the performance that our fans deserve.”
The 49ers’ leadership is now concentrating on the offseason, aiming to address key areas of concern and prepare for a more successful campaign in the future.
