A woman from Chippewa County has been named, not only Detroit Lions Fan of the Year but also the NFL’s Ultimate Fan of the Year.
Inspired by her late father, Donnie “Yooperman” Stefanski, Megan Stefanski is a lifelong Detroit Lions fan. According to a press release from the NFL, Stefanski has driven nearly 700 miles and 10 hours round trip from her home in the Upper Peninsula to watch the Lions each gameday at Ford Field.

In addition to her home game attendance, Stefanski travels to every away game and organizes events for the team’s fans on the road to get together the night before each game.
Stefanski hosts weekly gatherings at Detroit’s Eastern Market, welcoming all fans to join with a donation to Hospice of the EUP (Eastern Upper Peninsula). Each summer, she also organizes a charity event at her family’s bar and grill, Yooperman’s, to benefit Hospice of the EUP, drawing in Lions fans and supporters from across the state. This year, the event raised an impressive $30,000 in just one weekend, and she aims to raise an additional $20,000 this season through her donation-based tailgates. Last year, she raised a remarkable total of $37,000 for Hospice of the EUP, demonstrating her dedication to making a meaningful impact.
Megan is also a member of Pro Football’s Ultimate Fan Association and the Tailgating Hall of Fame, and she is the author of a children’s book about being a Fan of Fans, called “Yooperman’s Pride – Football is Family”.
The 2024 Fan of the Year Contest, presented by Captain Morgan, recognized 32 incredible honorees for their dedication to their fandom and commitment to their local community.
