Throughout the playoffs, the Kansas City Chiefs have been associated with several defensive rushers, either through trade rumors or the numerous mock drafts circulating. With their star defensive tackle Chris Jones reaching the age of 30, it’s crucial for the Chiefs to bolster their defensive line to stay competitive in the future.
Earlier this week, Myles Garrett of the Browns publicly expressed his desire to be traded to a contending team. While there is optimism about Garrett potentially joining Kansas City, there is one player we can be certain won’t be donning the Chiefs’ red anytime soon. Las Vegas Raiders’ standout defensive end Maxx Crosby has made it clear he isn’t interested in pursuing championships with the Chiefs.
A multi-year AP All-Pro and consistent Pro Bowler, Crosby has proven himself as one of the best in the league over recent years. In an interview with FanDuel’s Kay Adams on Thursday morning, Crosby discussed his future with the Raiders, mentioning that he’s handling things “one day at a time.” Although he didn’t dismiss the possibility of being traded, he firmly shut down the idea of joining the Chiefs. “I don’t want to join the d*** Chiefs and win a Super Bowl,” Crosby stated.
“That would mean absolutely nothing to me.” As one of the Chiefs’ fiercest adversaries, Crosby has every right to feel this way. Throughout his career, Crosby has achieved significant individual success, earning numerous accolades. However, in his six years as a professional, he has yet to experience a Playoff appearance. Things could be looking up for Las Vegas this upcoming season, though. With the new head coach Pete Carroll, he’s expected to instill a winning attitude within the Raiders’ locker room.
While the Chiefs are still exploring options for the upcoming NFL Draft and offseason, Crosby is unfortunately not a prospect for the potential three-peaters. With such consistent success, it’s difficult to imagine the Chiefs not returning to the same position next year. But to achieve that, KC must maintain a top-tier defense. Although Crosby won’t be the solution, he would have been a valuable addition.
