ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler Reveals What the Lions Must Offer the Browns for Myles Garrett-HN

The Detroit Lions, along with multiple NFL franchises, recognize that the Cleveland Browns are unlikely to part ways with Myles Garrett unless they receive a significant package of draft assets in return.

NFL insider Jeremy Fowler of ESPN has been gathering insights ahead of the Super Bowl and recently shared what he has learned regarding Garrett’s trade value.

Conversations I’ve had with league sources suggest that acquiring Garrett would demand at least two premium draft selections—either a pair of first-round picks or a combination of a first-rounder and a valuable Day 2 selection,” Fowler stated. “Additionally, it’s widely believed that his preferred landing spots would be limited to teams in contention, given his request for a trade.”

With his elite pass-rushing ability, Garrett is expected to generate considerable interest from teams exploring trade possibilities.

“I’ve spoken with multiple executives who acknowledge they will likely reach out to Cleveland, though they fully anticipate the Browns will reject any proposals,” Fowler wrote. “At this time, Cleveland has made it clear they have no intention of moving on from Garrett.”

Beyond Garrett, other high-caliber defensive linemen may also emerge as trade candidates this offseason. Franchises looking to secure top-tier edge rushers understand they will need to offer contracts exceeding $35 million per year.

For the Lions, their decision on whether to pursue Garrett may hinge on what kind of long-term contract extension they anticipate for Aidan Hutchinson.

“One league executive predicts that ‘Maxx, Myles, and Trey will all be part of trade discussions,’” Fowler noted. “Interest in Crosby and Hendrickson is expected to be significant—provided their teams are open to fielding offers. Ultimately, franchises must decide whether to pay a premium to retain elite edge rushers or seek younger, cost-effective alternatives at the position.”
