Former NFL receiver suggests the Lions should trade Aidan Hutchinson to the Browns for Myles Garrett…tn

Oh boy, we’ve reached the “insane take” part of the offseason super early this year. The Super Bowl hasn’t even happened yet and people are losing their minds.

Earlier in the week All-Pro edge rusher Myles Garrett announced that he has requested that the Cleveland Browns trade him and trade him to a team where he can win. The Detroit Lions were instantly one of the teams that everyone started looking at.

There have been many trade scenarios this week. We put forth our own, which sees the Lions getting Garrett and a future quarterback. Then former Michigan wide receiver Braylon Edwards who now works for Detroit media company Woodward Sports added his own take to the bunch and showed why it’s a good thing he never became a GM.

Edwards was discussing which Lions players were untouchable in the trade market and he said Jahmyr Gibbs, Amon-Ra St. Brown, and Penei Sewell. When asked if Aidan Hutchinson should be part of that group, he said this:

“Everybody else, including ninety-seven, will be on the table. You talking about Myles Garrett in his prime, and still in his prime, or Aidan Hutchinson and maybe he’ll come back and be this player? This is my opinion. I’ll take Myles Garrett and you can have Aidan Hutchinson. I’m doing one-for-one. That will be my Luka (Dončić) and A.D. (Anthony Davis.)”

Ok, there’s a lot to take in there. Obviously Myles Garrett has been one of the best defensive players in the league since he came into the NFL into the league in 2017. He’s going into the Hall of Fame someday and there is no doubt.

Still, Hutchinson has easily been one of the best defensive players in the NFL. In his third season, he was no broken leg away from winning the Defensive Player of the Year award. He’s 24 years old and probably hasn’t even begun his prime yet, but he almost won that award. You don’t trade that away.

The point here is that Hutchinson is your franchise guy and the Lions are looking to pair him with someone. They’re not looking to move on from him to get someone better because, in their eyes, there is nobody that can be better.

The Lions want to win now and winning now does not mean trading away their best defensive player who they just took with the second pick in the draft three years ago and could soon make the highest-paid edge rusher in the league. Thankfully Edwards is just a media guy now.
