BREAKING: Adam Schefter predicts Mekhi Becton’s future with Philadelphia Eagles-HN

The Philadelphia Eagles have some big decisions to make with NFL free agency coming up and right guard Mekhi Becton is one of them.

The Mekhi Becton Story - How The New York Jets Outcast Became A Super Bowl Champion With The Philadelphia Eagles! - The Playoffs

The Eagles signed Becton to a one-year, $2.75 million deal last spring, but after a successful 2024 season starting 15 games and a Super Bowl win, his value has skyrocketed.

Becton is projected to sign a four-year deal worth over $40 million either with the Eagles or somewhere else.

Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman celebrates with Philadelphia Eagles offensive tackle Mekhi Becton (77) during the fourth quarter of the NFC Championship game against Washington.

That is a hefty deal for a team that needs to consider their other star players like linebacker Zack Baun and defensive tackle Milton Williams who are also hitting the open market come March

However, ESPN’s Adam Schefter predicts Becton and the Eagles will end up meeting somewhere in the middle.

“Mekhi Becton found a home in Philadelphia, and he chose to go to Philadelphia in large part because he believed that [Eagles o-line coach] Jeff Stoutland would help rebuild his career, and that’s exactly what happened,” Schefter said during an appearance on 97.5 The Fanatic’s Kincade & Salciunas. “Now, he can go out and seek greener pastures elsewhere, or he and the Eagles could work out a fair deal where he could continue to thrive. So, I think Mekhi Becton is going to be inclined to stay.”

Stoutland is a major reason for Becton’s success after he moved from offensive tackle to guard and as Schefter noted, he chose Philly in the first place to learn at “Stoutland U.”

With other stars looking for a raise, it’s hard to pinpoint how things will end between Becton and the Eagles this offseason, but if he is willing to settle for a little bit less, it will be another jackpot hit for Philly.
