Bills Linked $140 Million Receiver From AFC East..ANHTRUC.

Coming off yet another playoff loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, this year’s version coming in the AFC Championship game, the Buffalo Bills will once again look to make the move to get them over the hump.

The receiver room is likely one place the Bills will look to target this offseason. Khalil Shakir took a big step in the slot this season, and rookie Keon Coleman showed flashes, but veterans Mack Hollins and Amari Cooper are headed to free agency, and there are questions about Shakir’s viability as a number one target.

The Bills could look in-state for some help, as their divisional rival New York Jets could be looking to move a top target.

Davante Adams has two years left on his contract, but it’s widely believed that the Jets will release Adams before the beginning of free agency to save on the $35.64 million he’s owed. With the team announcing their parting with Aaron Rodgers, it seems unlikely Adams has any interest in returning to the club.

The Bills were rumored to be in on the Adams’ trade sweepstakes last year, but Adams was eventually sent downstate to the Jets.

The Bills inevitably pivoted to the deal that landed them Cooper, which suggests the team definitely had high hopes of Adams being a key piece to a potential Super Bowl run.

In October, FOX Sports analyst Colin Cowherd talked about a potential Adams and Bills pairing. He painted it as a match made in heaven between the six-time Pro Bowler and three-time All Pro and Josh Allen.

“How could you even consider then other teams if the Bills reached out to you?” Cowherd rhetorically asked Adams on his show.

Adams has reached the 1,000 yard plateau in six of his last seven seasons – his lone miss being a 997 yard effort in 12 games in 2019. Adams has led the NFL in receiving touchdowns in two of the last five seasons, and hauled in his 100th this past season.

Adams could pair nicely with Shakir and Coleman, and Adams’ presence would take a lot of the pressure off Shakir, with the secondary likely focused on the 11,000 yard man in Adams.
