De’Vondre Campbell: ‘I Ain’t Addressing S–t’ About 49ers Exit After Refusing to Play -bb

After being suspended by the San Francisco 49ers for the final three games of the regular season for refusing to enter a Week 15 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, De’Vondre Campbell has finally spoken out about the situation.

In an expletive-filled series of posts on X, Campbell wrote “I ain’t addressing s–t” about the situation.

Campbell went on to say he told 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch he’s “rich and never (has) to work another day of my life” when they called him last offseason about signing with the team.

The situation occurred in the second half of San Francisco’s 12-6 loss to the Rams. Dre Greenlaw, who was playing his first game of the season after suffering a torn Achilles in Super Bowl 58, was given the start over Campbell.

Greenlaw left the game in the second half due to a knee injury and backup linebacker Dee Winters was dealing with a neck issue. Campbell declined to go in the game when his name was called and eventually walked off the field to the locker room in the fourth quarter.

“He said he didn’t want to play today,” Shanahan told reporters after the game when asked about Campbell.

49ers tight end George Kittle said he’s “never been around anybody that’s ever done” what Campbell did.

The 49ers announced on Dec. 16 that Campbell was suspended for the final three games of the season for conduct detrimental to the team.

Campbell signed a one-year, $5 million contract with San Francisco in March 2024. He started 12 of the first 13 games this season. The 31-year-old finished third on the team with 79 combined tackles.
