UPDATE: Packers place 3 players on PFF’s top 101 players of 2024 list -bb

The Green Bay Packers had three players — including two additions made last offseason and another likely to get paid this offseason — rank among the top 101 players from the 2024 season at Pro Football Focus.

Pro Bowlers Xavier McKinney and Josh Jacobs both made the list, and right tackle Zach Tom got some much-needed recognition for his ascension as a top player at offensive tackle.

Football is the ultimate team game, but star power remains so important. The Packers had three players make PFF’s list; the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles had 11.

Here’s a quick look at the three players from the Packers on PFF’s top 101 list from 2024:

No. 34: RB Josh Jacobs

Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs (8) runs for a first down against the New Orleans Saints during their football game Monday, December 23, 2024, at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Last season: No rank

PFF stat to know: Jacobs finished third among all running backs in yards after contact (1,113) and missed tackles forced (79) in the run game and third in receiving grade (89.2) in the passing game.

From PFF: “Even in a new uniform, Jacobs made his mark and put up a career-high 92.4 PFF grade. That performance puts him in elite company, as he joins Adrian Peterson and Derrick Henry as the only running backs to eclipse a 91.0 overall grade in multiple seasons since PFF began tracking data in 2006. Jacobs and Henry are the only players to accomplish the feat with two franchises.”

No. 48: RT Zach Tom

Green Bay Packers guard Zach Tom (50) blocks New Orleans Saints defensive end Payton Turner (98) during the third quarter of their game Monday, December 23, 2024 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Last season: No rank

PFF stat to know: Tom allowed nine fewer pressures in 2024 compared to 2023, and his run-blocking grade during the regular season improved from 75.8 to an elite mark of 90.0.

From PFF: “Tom’s 85.8 PFF grade was sixth among all offensive tackles in the league while his 87.8 run-blocking grade (including postseason) trailed only Jordan Mailata and Penei Sewell. He finished the year as the fourth-most-valuable tackle in the league according to our wins above replacement metric.”

No. 56: S Xavier McKinney

Last season: No. 57

PFF stat to know: McKinney not only intercepted eight passes but also didn’t allow a touchdown pass into his coverage, and he missed only five tackle attempts despite playing over 1,000 total snaps.

From PFF: “The former New York Giant picked off eight passes in 2024, which tied with Kerby Joseph for the most in the NFL. McKinney’s 90.2 coverage grade trailed only Joseph among all safeties as well.”
