Bears Coach Ben Johnson Throws More Shade at Lions’ Jared Goff During NFL Combine.THANHDUNG

Former Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson has been busy giving Lions fans more reasons to be unhappy with him at the NFL Combine.

It started during his press conference at the event, as he seemingly took shots at Jared Goff and the Lions’ defense while praising his new quarterback, Caleb Williams.

Now another quote from Johnson has surfaced where he throws some more shade at Goff.

While speaking to Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio and Chris Simms, Johnson compared said passes Penei Sewell threw in practice looked better than throws he had seen from Jared Goff.

“The best part of that was he threw a dime every single time in practice,” Johnson said (via Woodward Sports Network). “We probably took that for three weeks and every time it was a dime. It was better than some other people, Jared Goff. He was pretty darn good at throwing on the move.”

Johnson was probably just trying to make a joke, but the timing of it couldn’t have been worse.

This quote came less than 24 hours after he implied Caleb Williams would be the first QB he’s coached who can succeed off-schedule.

Then he makes this comment comparing a right tackle throwing the ball on the move to Goff doing the same.

The Lions probably already had plenty of extra motivation for their 2025 matchups against the Bears because of the way Johnson left for their division rival.

Now he’s just adding fuel to the fire with seemingly every opportunity he gets.

With a little over six months until the start of the NFL season, Johnson has plenty of time to continue giving bulletin board material to an organization that has beaten the Bears in five of their last six meetings.

We’ll just have to wait and see how much more shade Johnson throws the Lions’ way in that time.
