REPORT: Ravens Expected To Release Defensive Starter Before Free Agency.THANHDUNG

The Baltimore Ravens had another great season but came up short again in the playoffs.

A year after they lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game, they lost to the Buffalo Bills in the AFC divisional round. It was a great game, but the Bills were able to deny a late two-point try by the Ravens after tight end Mark Andrews dropped the ball.

Andrews was wide open in the end zone for the conversion, which would’ve tied the game, but he couldn’t hold bring the pass in. The Ravens lost by two, 27-25.

They are determined to break through in the AFC, but they have to make some tough roster decisions to accomplish that goal.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Ravens safety Marcus Williams is preparing for free agency and expects the team to release him before the new league year starts on March 12

Williams has spent the last three seasons with the Ravens, totaling 149 tackles, five interceptions, two fumble recoveries, and 18 passes defended.

He finished the 2024 season with 33 total tackles, a fumble recovery, and two passes defended. He was benched during a portion of the season since he wasn’t playing as well.

Assuming the Ravens release Williams, they’ll have to find a replacement for him via free agency or the 2025 NFL Draft. Williams will also be coveted by teams on the free-agent market, which opens in about a week and a half.

This next week will be super busy as more teams consider making some tough but necessary cuts.
