BREAKING: Bears standout anticipated to depart Chicago, securing a $30 million contract with the Dolphins. nhathung

The Miami Dolphins face a significant challenge this offseason as they seek to address gaps in their offensive line. With both starting guards, Isaiah Wynn and Robert Jones, alongside reserve guard Liam Eichenberg, poised to enter free agency in under two weeks, the task of finding suitable replacements looms large.

Despite having a limited salary cap space of approximately $9.4 million, ESPN’s Aaron Schatz forecasts that the Dolphins will secure Chicago Bears guard Teven Jenkins, who has shown promise following a shift in his playing position. “Given that nearly every guard on Miami’s roster is approaching free agency, upgrading the position with emerging talent like Jenkins seems wise.

Jenkins, who initially struggled with injuries as a tackle, is now flourishing as a guard,” Schatz noted. “This move banks more on potential than past performance, with Jenkins posting an average pass-block win rate of 92.0% and a slightly below-average run block win rate of 69.3% last season. However, as he approaches 27, his ability to dominate in the run game is undeniable.”

Initially drafted by the Bears to be a starting left tackle, Jenkins encountered difficulties early in his career. Following a switch to right guard in 2022, he played both guard positions in 2023, showing significant growth. In 2024, Jenkins focused solely on left guard and delivered perhaps his best season yet, allowing just 17 pressures, including four sacks and a single quarterback hit over 495 pass-blocking snaps, according to Pro Football Focus.

With free agency looming, Jenkins is predicted by Spotrac to secure a three-year contract worth $31 million. The Dolphins will need to adjust their finances ahead of free agency, but Jenkins remains a potential target based on market conditions.
