Stefon Diggs to Sign With the Kansas City Chiefs: Reaction to Chiefs Free Agency Prediction.THANHDUNG

For most of his career, Stefon Diggs has been considered a superstar receiver. Now, coming off an injury at 30 years old, it looks like Diggs will be on the move. In an article by Marissa Myers at TWSN, she predicts that Diggs will sign with the Kansas City Chiefs this offseason.

If Diggs does indeed sign with a new team this offseason, heading to Kansas City would make a ton of sense.

At 30 years old, Diggs still hasn’t won a Super Bowl and the Chiefs would give him a great chance to do so. Despite losing to the Philadelphia Eagles last year, they currently sit with the second-best odds for Super Bowl 60 (+700) on FanDuel.

Stefon Diggs Signs With the Chiefs: Prediction Reaction

Let’s break down this move and take a look at why it might make sense for Diggs.

Leaving the Houston Texans

Going back to those Super Bowl odds, the Texans have the 12th-best odds (+2800) to win the Super Bowl in 2025. It seems like most agree that the Texans aren’t a true contender right now and it’s not like they’re one move away either.

It would make a ton of sense for the team to go into retool mode rather than a hard rebuild. In this scenario, the Texans should try and prioritize younger players in order to make a run in two to three years. With Diggs turning 32 years old next season, he just doesn’t fit the Texans’ timeline.

Aside from Diggs not fitting in with the Texans’ plans, if he wants to ring chase, staying in Houston is likely not the best idea.

Joining the Kansas City Chiefs

It was clear in the Super Bowl that the Chiefs should sign a wide receiver. Rashee Rice is set to come back in 2025, but there are a few issues with his profile. There shouldn’t be many concerns about his long-term outlook, but he may miss a chunk of next season and could return a bit rusty.

Not only is Rice coming off a torn right LCL and hamstring, but he is also having some legal trouble. According to an article by USA Today, “Rice is facing eight charges: one count of aggravated assault, one count of collision involving serious bodily injury and six counts of collision involving injury.” If Rice is suspended, that would put a huge dent in the Chiefs 2025 plans.

Signing Diggs would be the perfect move because of this return timeline. As an older player, Diggs’s production should decline over time, but he could still provide a meaningful impact in 2025. On the other hand, Rice’s production should only increase as he’s coming back from that brutal injury.

If Diggs does decide to leave the Texans, signing with the Chiefs makes a ton of sense.
