GREEN BAY (WLUK) — Veteran Green Bay Packers kicker Mason Crosby shared an emotional message on social media Thursday, expressing his gratitude to Titletown. This follows Crosby’s announcement, after 16 seasons with Green Bay, that he will retire as a Packer. Finishing his career as the team’s all-time top scorer, Crosby kicked for the Packers from 2007 to 2022.
In his message, he expressed thanks to the Packers and the Green Bay community for their unwavering support, noting that Wisconsin will forever hold a special place in his heart. Crosby assured fans they would still hear from him, stating, “You will continue to hear and see me around.”
Dear Green Bay, The whirlwind of the past two years since I last played in Green Bay has finally settled as my family and I have established ourselves in our new home. I want to pause and acknowledge the immense privilege and blessing it was to play for the Green Bay Packers and be part of such a unique community.
I was fortunate to be part of a Super Bowl-winning team, watch my family grow from just Molly and me to five children, all born in Green Bay where we lived year-round, and create memories that I will cherish forever. Retiring as a Packer is my way of declaring that although I now reside in another state, I remain an ambassador for the team.
Instead of you cheering for me, it is now my turn to champion and celebrate all the incredible achievements occurring in Wisconsin. You will still see and hear me around, as I aim to highlight the wonderful things happening in the area and support vital community groups. Thank you, Packers fans, for your support over 16 seasons. Thank you to the Packers organization for the chance to play the game I love.
Thank you to all my teammates over those 16 seasons—we had an incredible journey, and I am deeply grateful for the lifelong friendships formed. Thanks also to the Packers support staff who work tirelessly to support us on and off the field. To the Green Bay community and all our lifelong relationships formed during our time there, I couldn’t have achieved my on-field success as a kicker without the off-field support. Once a Packer, always a Packer! Go Pack Go.
Crosby was initially drafted by the Packers in the sixth round (193rd overall) of the 2007 NFL Draft from the University of Colorado, participating in 258 regular-season games and 23 postseason contests (the most in team history) for Green Bay. He holds the top spot in team history for games played and consecutive games played (258), and his 16 seasons (2007-22) are tied for the second-most in franchise history (Aaron Rodgers, 18, 2005-22).
Crosby contributed to the Packers’ Super Bowl victory, nine division titles, reaching the NFC Championship six times, and making the playoffs 12 times. The Packers chose not to re-sign Crosby in 2023, opting instead to draft Anders Carlson in the sixth round of that year’s draft. Crosby played three games for the New York Giants in 2023, successfully making 5 of 7 field-goal attempts.
