Warriors Make Historic Draymond Green Announcement - Athlon Sports

The new trio of Steph Curry, Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green has the Golden State Warriors as one of the hottest teams in the NBA, winning nine out of their last ten games.

On Saturday night, the Warriors secured their fourth-straight win, defeating Cade Cunningham and the Detroit Pistons 115-110 at Chase Center.

Coming into the game, Green had recorded 4,851 assists through his 13-year career, good for third on Golden State’s all-time assists list. He needed just five assists to pass former Warriors point guard Guy Rodgers (4,855) for second on the franchise’s all-time assists list.

With 8:24 remaining in the game, Green hit Curry for a layup, marking his fifth assist of the game and the 4,856th of his career. In doing so, the former Michigan State star now passes Rodgers for second on the Warriors’ all-time assists leaderboard.

The Warriors announced Green’s latest achievement on social media.

Now, Curry and Green hold the first and second spots, respectively, on the Warriors’ all-time assists list. Curry went into the game with 6,456 career assists, by far the most in franchise history, per Basketball-Reference.

Rodgers initially set the record during his time with the Philadelphia and San Francisco Warriors from 1958-1966. He led the entire NBA in assists in two seasons throughout his career and made four All-Star teams. Playing with Wilt Chamberlain, No. 7 on the all-time scoring list, certainly helped.

Green finished the night with 12 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. Curry and Butler combined for another 58 points, nine assists and 12 rebounds.

With the win, Green and the Warriors move to 36-28 on the season, good for sixth in the West. Up next, a battle with Anfernee Simons and the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday. Then, they get a two-day break before taking on the Sacramento Kings on Thursday.
