WR Chris Godwin is back to the Bucs with a 3-year, $66M deal with $44M guaranteed.

The deal comes after the Bucs adjusted the structure of his previous contract to allow for extended negotiations, ultimately leading both sides to a mutual agreement.

With this extension, the reliable slot receiver remains a key piece in Tampa Bay’s offensive arsenal.

Godwin, now entering his eighth NFL season with the Buccaneers, saw his 2024 campaign cut short due to a dislocated ankle suffered in the Week 7 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

Before the injury, he was enjoying a career-best season, leading the league in receptions (50), first-down catches (30), and yards after the catch (324). He also shared the top spot in receiving touchdowns (5), ranked second in catch percentage (81.1% with a minimum of 25 targets), and was third in total receiving yards.

Godwin, now entering his eighth NFL season with the Buccaneers, saw his 2024 campaign cut short due to a dislocated ankle suffered in the Week 7 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

Projected over a full season, Godwin was on pace for nearly 1,400 receiving yards, which would have marked a personal best. Thriving in his primary slot role, he capitalized on free releases and two-way routes, setting the tone for Tampa Bay’s passing attack.

A third-round draft pick out of Penn State in 2017, Godwin has cemented himself as one of the most productive receivers in Buccaneers history. He ranks second in franchise records for receptions (579), receiving yards (7,266), and touchdown catches (39), trailing only longtime teammate Mike Evans.

Together, the duo has formed one of the NFL’s most formidable receiving tandems. Additionally, Godwin’s career average of 5.2 receptions per game stands as the highest in team history among qualified players.

With his new contract in place, Godwin will continue to be a focal point of the Buccane
