It seems that Thomas is eager for Gilmore to don the Cowboys jersey once more. Gilmore departed from the team following the 2023 season, signing a one-year contract worth $7 million with the Vikings. The Cowboys currently face a shortage of experienced cornerbacks.

At 34, Gilmore had hoped to return to the Cowboys last season but didn’t receive an offer to do so. After the 2023 season ended, Gilmore spoke to The Fan, expressing his strong wish to remain with the Cowboys. “Definitely, I want to come back,” Gilmore shared with The Fan.

“I truly believe we have the elements needed to reach our goals, and I want to be part of that journey. Free agency kicks off in March, so hopefully, something can be worked out. I’d love to team up again with B. Cooks and these guys, play another year with Bland, and see Trevon make a comeback from his ACL injury.”

Cowboys fans reacted to the post, eager for Gilmore’s return. “We should NEVER have let Gilly Rock leave!!” one fan exclaimed, while another added, “It’s time for him to return home to Dallas.” The seasoned player, with 13 years of experience, has been part of several teams and spent a year with the Cowboys.
