The Kansas City Chiefs’ blowout loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX could’ve been the last for tight end Travis Kelce. After weeks of mulling retirement, the iconic tight end decided to hold off retirement for another season in 2025.
Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice recently appeared on REVOLT Sports Weekly x I Am Athlete to reveal himself as a reason for Kelce returning for a 13th NFL season.
“I ain’t even gonna lie, I’m 95 percent the reason he (Travis Kelce) ain’t retiring,” Rice said. “Told him he can’t go out like that, make sure we get that next year. I’m pretty sure he was hanging it up, and I’m like, we can’t go out like that. We gotta go win that (Super Bowl), I’m going to make sure we win that, that’s what I told him.”
Kelce was still a Pro Bowler in 2024, finishing the regular season with 97 catches for 823 yards and three touchdowns. He will likely have Rice back to start the season after missing significant time last year due to a knee injury.
