Hara-Kiri is an ancient ritual of the Japanese samurai. This was an important part of samurai culture (bushido) but is now abolished.

This is a custom that was common in feudal China about 1,000 years ago and only applied to young girls. However, by the end of the Ming dynasty, this custom spread to the whole society and became the standard of beauty.
