Green Bay Packers fans anticipated this farewell message. Running back AJ Dillon, who joined the defending Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, on a one-year deal, expressed his gratitude on Instagram on Monday for his five seasons with the Packers. “Wisconsin transformed into more than just the place where I played football — it became home.
It’s where I matured, began my family, and created unforgettable memories,” he shared. “It was a privilege to don the ‘G’ and be part of such a remarkable organization. I’m thankful for the friendships formed, the lessons learned, and the unwavering support from Packers fans everywhere. You welcomed my family and me from the start, and we are eternally grateful.”
Dillon met his spouse, Gabrielle, soon after he arrived in Green Bay in May 2020. He reached out to her on Instagram after spotting her at Synergy Sports Performance in Hobart during the COVID-19 pandemic. She introduced him to Door County, where her family owns a residence.
Dillon, originally from New London, Connecticut, quickly developed a fondness for the area’s waters, local shops, eateries, and the close-knit community, earning him the informal title of the “Mayor of Door County” due to his frequent visits. The couple tied the knot in Door County in 2022 and welcomed their son, Trey, on May 2, 2023, coinciding with AJ Dillon’s birthday.
Their Instagram account, Dining with the Dillons, showcased their culinary adventures throughout northeastern Wisconsin, from classic spots with deep-fried cheese curds and burgers to upscale venues for romantic evenings.
Some of their favorite places in the Green Bay area last year included Republic Chophouse in Green Bay, Chives Restaurant in Suamico, Bleu Restaurant & Lounge in Ledgeview, and the chili at The Drift Inn in De Pere. Additionally, AJ Dillon ventured into writing children’s books while in Green Bay, celebrating his first book, “Quadzilla Finds His Footing,” with an event at the Johnsonville Tailgate Village outside Lambeau Field in 2023.
