AARON Rodgers remains without a team in the NFL after being cut by the New York Jets.

And there has been an update on the 41-year-old’s status as he looks for his next challenge.

Rodgers is unemployed for the first time in his two-decade career.

The four-time MVP and former Super Bowl champion had two disastrous years with the Jets.

He has considered retirement from the sport as well as taking on a new challenge.

Rodgers’ top choice was revealed in a report last week.

The 41-year-old was most keen on a move to the Minnesota Vikings.

The team had just let Sam Darnold go after he filled in for injured rookie JJ McCarthy.

But a move to Minnesota for Rodgers is highly unlikely.

The Vikings are committed to their young quarterback McCarthy after he was forced to miss the entire 2024 season.

Darnold did a brilliant job in filling in for him, and last week cashed in.

He signed a $100 million deal with the Seattle Seahawks.

ESPN later reported that the Vikings setback hasn’t changed Rodgers’ plans.

He is said to be “in no rush at all” to decide on his future.

NFL Network star Ian Rapoport recently said that Rodgers could wait until after the Draft to decide.

“Do you draft someone? That’s about a month away, so all of us would like this done sooner rather than later,” Rapoport said.

“I don’t get the sense that Rodgers is in any kind of hurry at all.

“Could it drag out all the way to the draft like it did two years ago? Maybe it could.”

The NFL Draft takes place from April 24-26 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Most of Rodgers’ career was spent with the Packers, where he won his solitary Super Bowl title in the 2010 season.

Rodgers was injured just four plays into his New York Jets debut in 2023.

He tore his Achilles against the Buffalo Bills and missed the entire rest of the season.

Last year the Jets finished a disappointing 5-12 despite holding playoff hopes.
