The San Francisco 49ers have been hit hard in free agency. They have lost many key players but could swing a trade to replace some of the pass-rush production they lost. While listing teams that took a step back in free agency, NFL Analyst Matt Bowen named the 49ers.

The 49ers moved on from Leonard Floyd, Talanoa Hufanga, Charvarius Ward and Dre Greenlaw this offseason. After losing big pieces of their defense Bowen suggested the 49ers trade for Philadelphia Eagles pass rusher Bryce Huff.

“The San Francisco 49ers. With quarterback Brock Purdy set to cash in on a new deal, Kyle Shanahan’s team had to move on from core players,” wrote Bowen. “The 49ers said goodbye to Deebo Samuel Sr., Dre Greenlaw, Talanoa Hufanga and more. However, the 49ers could make a trade with Philadelphia for edge rusher Bryce Huff, who had 10 sacks in 2023 for the Jets under new Niners defensive coordinator Robert Saleh.”

Huff signed a three-year, $51 million deal with the Eagles following a career year with the Jets in 2023, with Saleh as his head coach. He played in just 12 games last seaons and registered 2.5 sacks. With Saleh back in San Francisco as the defensive coordinater a trade for Huff could make sense.

The 49ers have 11 draft picks in the upcoming NFL Draft so they have the ammunition to swing a trade for Huff while his value is low. The 26-year old could replace Floyd on the 49ers defensive line.
