The Green Bay Packers are on the cusp of becoming a top-level Super Bowl contender. Following a strong 2024 season, the Packers were swiftly eliminated by the Philadelphia Eagles in the wild card round. Jordan Love and his team fell short of expectations, largely due to the offense lacking dynamism towards the end of the season.
As they approach the offseason, Green Bay was anticipated to make bold moves; however, they’ve only brought in three external players so far: offensive lineman Aaron Banks, cornerback Nate Hobbs, and wide receiver Mecole Hardman. Could the Packers be eyeing a major trade before the NFL draft?
Austen Bundy from The Sporting News proposed a trade scenario that could elevate the Packers’ offense and Love’s performance. He highlighted Green Bay as a prime candidate for a trade involving Miami Dolphins’ star wide receiver Tyreek Hill.
“Head coach Matt LeFleur lacks a definitive WR1 for quarterback Jordan Love, as Christian Watson, Jayden Reed, and Romeo Doubs collectively amassed 2,078 receiving yards in 2024, contributing to their 11-4 record,” Bundy stated. He expanded on why the Packers might pursue a trade for Hill, noting that when any of the trio was sidelined due to injury, the offense struggled.
“Acquiring Hill would give Love a definitive top target while establishing one of the league’s deepest wide receiver groups. This should translate to at least 11 victories and enable Green Bay to keep pace with their ever-improving NFC North foes in Minnesota and Detroit.”
Hill experienced a less impressive year in 2024 with the Dolphins, achieving 81 catches for 959 yards and six touchdowns across 17 games. Yet, in 2023, he recorded 119 receptions for 1,799 yards and 13 touchdowns in 16 games.
