The offseason NFL quarterback carousel may have another entrant, with the Vikings considering bringing in Ryan Tannehill, Fox Sports reported Friday.

The news that the team has been in contact with the former Titans and Dolphins QB comes after NFL Network reported earlier this week that the Vikings were no longer in pursuit of another free agent signal-caller, Aaron Rodgers.

The Vikings are expected to go with their first-round pick from a year ago, J.J. McCarthy, who missed all of last season following knee surgery after the team made him the No. 10 overall pick in the draft.

Ex-Jets QB Sam Darnold got the starting job in the wake of McCarthy’s injury and had a career renaissance, which led him to sign a free-agent deal of his own this offseason with the Seahawks.

The Vikings still need more depth at quarterback, and while they haven’t discussed a deal with Tannehill, 36, he could be an intriguing possibility.

He didn’t sign with a team all of last season after spending the previous five years with the Titans.

Tannehill also played seven years with Miami after the Dolphins made him the No. 8 overall pick in 2012 out of Texas A&M.

As for Rodgers, NFL Network reported the Vikings were “not pursuing” the former Jet and Green Bay Packer, as the plan is for McCarthy to become the starter.

With the Vikings in the market for a backup, Tannehill would make more sense.

And there are still other veteran quarterbacks looking for jobs.

The Giants and Steelers are both interested in Rodgers, who is taking his time in finding a new destination after being released by the Jets.

Russell Wilson also hasn’t landed in a new spot after an inconsistent season with the Steelers.

The Giants signed ex-Browns QB Jameis Winston, which seemingly took them out of the Wilson sweepstakes, although they could draft a QB later this offseason.

They have also had discussions with Joe Flacco, who played for the Colts last year before Indianapolis signed ex-Giant Daniel Jones to compete with Anthony Richardson.

Among the other QB moves this offseason, Matthew Stafford stayed with the Rams after it briefly appeared as if he might get traded, while the Jets signed Justin Fields after a season with the Steelers.

Another former Jet and Giant, Geno Smith, was traded from Seattle to the Raiders.
