Boundless Dreams: The Inspirational Journey of a Girl Without Legs.

They see people with disability, they can’t do anything.

She is a lady that has been through her times.

Her history is a bitter one.

It is one that is full of a lot of pain and sorrow.

At the same time, the people that she expected to comfort her made her life even more worse.

Eunice was born without legs.

She was once in a relationship and she says that it is almost the worst thing that has ever happened to her, because the man of her dreams was taken by a family member that was taking care of her and she was left all alone.

Until today, she still lives with a lot of pain that was caused by things that happened to her.

She studied and graduated, but everyone refused to hire her just because she is disabled.

She shares everything with us today and this is her story

Um, Eunice Reuben Robert is my dad, for now is late.

She is called eunice Ruben and she is 29 years old today.

She was born in Nairobi, the capital city of Kenya.

This is where her parents lived, but when she was born and they noticed that she was disabled, it was obvious that she needed an extraordinary caretaker, and since they were working, they couldn’t manage to.

Her mother took her to live with her grandparents- and this is where she grew up from- and most times they always used to come and visit her and check on how she was doing.

According to her, she is the only one in her family that was born disabled, and others are all completely fine.

Fortunately, she had a chance of going to school.

In the beginning.

She was emotionally fine because she was still very young.

She never knew that she was disabled.

She kept on going to school, but as time went by, something happened.

Eunice started noticing that she was different from others because of some things like running, that they always used to do and she couldn’t.

When i was in the class one the days when i started to see myself-

I’m naughty, i’m not like the other-

How, what, what was that spot that made you realize you’re different?

Okay, I used to see them.

I like even they’re running, but i can’t run and they’re doing things.

There were many activities they used to do which i was not able to.

She was not yet brave enough to go and ask her grandparents about it until one day that a child asked her why she did not have legs.

She was so hurt and she crawled back home crying all the way.

She went to talk to her grandparents and tell them what had happened and asked them to why she did not have legs.

When she talked to them, they said that she was special because she was different from all other children.

From that day onwards, she was not comfortable at all with herself.

She was the only one in the whole school that was disabled, and this kept on bothering her.

It was not long after then when she decided to talk to her mother about it.

Eunice is very special, you’re going to see.

So we are already in the area where she stays.

She said that she wanted to change school after.

When i returned to class 6, i asked my mama: i want to go to her school for people with people like me.

Eunice said that she wanted to go to the school of other disabled children just like her.

I wanted to go to school for people like me to feel that like i’m one of them.

She said that she always felt left out when she saw other children doing things that she could not do.

She just wanted to be in an environment that she could fit in.

Her mother understood what eunice was talking about.

Education

They started looking for a school for the disabled that she was supposed to go to until they found it eunice joined the school

And she says that it was a lot better than where she had been, and this is where she completed high school from.

After high school, she had good grades and she was supposed to be sent to a very good university, but again it was very expensive and her mother could not afford to pay for it.

By that time my mom was not able to pay for me at university.

She remained at home until they found another that was a lot cheaper.

She went to university and studied despite her disability.

This was also not easy at all, but she managed to study and excel, just like other students, which was a very happy moment for enes and her entire family as well.

After graduation at the Multimedia University of Kenya, she started seeking for a job because she had all the qualifications, but this was not successful at all.

No one ever wanted to hire her, and she says that this is because she is disabled.

It has been years now after her graduation and she was still trying to look for a job, but nothing positive ever comes up.

She always needs someone to keep taking care of her.

One of her relatives decided to come and live with her and give a hand, because eunice cannot do a lot of things for herself, like lifting herself up in some areas, like the toilet, the stairs and a lot more of that sort.

Relationship

She was so happy and delighted to have someone by her side

This was when some people started seeing her on social media and some of them were visiting her.

Fortunately, there came a man that they became too close.

They became friends and later they ended up falling in love.

He always used to come and visit her on a daily basis and three weeks to a month later things started changing.

Okay, relationship is not easy.

That’s why.

So you don’t want to be in a relationship, because it’s not easy.

Have you ever had a boyfriend before?

Yeah, Okay, i had a boyfriend, but i took what asana got wrong.

It was like, let’s say, around three months, or no? three weeks, one month there.

Yeah, then we depart immediately, only one month.

What the man of her dreams was now cheating on her with her relative that was taking care of eunice.

It was unbelievable that the people that were the closest to her were the ones that were hurting her the most.

She caught them a couple of times and she started suspecting that something was going on.

When i went to toilet and come back, i found them sitting together.

Then, when they saw me, they departed.

They already gone, sit in like different seats and the body made there then.

That’s when i realized there is something then

Let me check the messages, as i saw, but i didn’t react immediately.

She read the messages in her boyfriend’s phone and when he left she tried calling to check on him, but everything became a complete mess.

I called him tonight, she is safe, and he told me: you know what, never call me again and delete all my photos from your phone, and i told him: it’s okay.

Fine, you’re not the last bone of men.

He told her never to call his number again and to delete all his pictures from her phone.

She broke down and decided to move to this house because her grandparents were also getting old and she was being abundant to them.

Is they are not taking care of me now?

Oh, i got to wear how to eat everything.

Yeah, It’s my brother.

Yeah, This is her brother’s house.

He is the one that is taking care of her and trying to give her everything that she needs.

She says that she knows that her brother is going to get married soon and she does not want to become a burden to his family.

Two years to come, i want to be on my own.

I’d be, uh, my own place.

Yeah, in about two years time she has a vision of moving to her own place, because she believes that people that have been taking care of her also have dreams to chase.

She also would love to see them achieving their dreams.

While she is not in their way for beauty, i can make people be smart.

Especially i want to make people like me- people are born Differently- to teach them how to be.

It’s matter to make them smart, and you know, okay, myself, i really love to be smart.

I really love making beauty, as you saw, i know to make my home makeup and everything’s.

Yeah, eunice is always hoping and praying to start up her own cosmetic shop.

All the years that she has spent at home, she has always been doing makeup for herself and for other people that come to visit her, and now she wants to show her talent to the world and do makeup for people that are normal and others that are disabled, like her, because many people do not want to do anything for them.

Today, she is seeking for help so that she can get a place to stay and the funds to start up her own business, because she believes that when this is available, she can manage a life on her own without depending on anyone anymore.
