Ignite Joyful Bonds: Discover 11 Enchanting Activities Every Horse Owner Should Experience

Sometimes spending time with your horse might be a little boring and it happens because horse people are mainly focused on typical horse activities. Rather than riding, there are other numerous activities that you can do with your horse. Let’s have a look at them:

1. Build an obstacle horse course

Who can be better than horses when we talk about jumping over the obstacles? Jumping over obstacles is a great way how to boost your horse’s confidence and real-life examples have proven that it is very resultative. If your horse is a little scared at the beginning, don’t stop doing it. It is certain that sooner or later, your horse will get used to it.

2. Get fit with your horse

This might be great not only for your horse but for you as well. A lot of times, we lack the motivation or energy to exercise on a daily basis and a lot of times, it comes as a consequence of our busy daily schedule. Equestrians all over the world have made it a routine, they either go for a morning run accompanied by their horses or they simply push their horses to do the same exercises as they are doing. A few days ago we published an article about a man who was very happy to have included such activities in his routine.

3. Do a little dancing with your horse

Maybe this might look strange but horses love listening to music and also dancing along to it. Same as us, they have different music tastes. Try to play different songs of different genres while you are spending time with your horse and they will most likely react to one of the songs you will play or simply teach your horse some easy moves like the Hokey Pokey moves.

4. Include toys in your training

Horses are like babies, almost all of them like to play with toys. Do you remember the one with the rubber duck? What about the one who was obsessed with the giant, soft and colorful ball? Just bring an interesting toy in front of your horse and he will most likely go crazy about it.

5. Dress your horse up

If you have young girl kids, this might probably be the most interesting one from the list. Kids always come up with creative ideas about the horse’s appearance and a lot of times they are highly influenced by cartoon horse characters. Well, it is interesting for grown-ups also. Take some cool photos of your horse and share them with your friends.

6. Teach your horse to paint

Of course, you can’t expect a horse to paint a portrait but they can grab paintbrushes with their mouth, mix different colors all together and create an abstract picture. One of them is already doing it and his pictures are sold for thousands of dollars. Crazy, isn’t it.

7. Take your horse for a walk and explore the neighborhood

Horses really enjoy exploring new places because it is in their wild nature to travel to long and beautiful distances. So they would really appreciate if you explored around with them.

8. Find a treat your horse really likes

It is a very good idea to find a delicious treat that your horse enjoys very much. By finding the treat your horse really likes you can give it to them as a special reward when they do a required task very well or just as a treat to show all the love you have for him.

9. Find your horses ‘Favorite Scratching Spot

All the horses love to be scratched in a certain spot. Researchers even show that rubbing or scratching a horse has a special calming effect for them. It usually a spot that they can’t reach by themselves so do not stop until you have found it because your horse will be very thankful.

10. Lead your horse to water and let them play

If it is a hot day, horses would really love to play with the water and splash around. Find a lake, a pond or even a natural water pool so that you two can play and have the most amazing time together.

11. Braid your horse’s mane

This is such a special activity, especially for us girls, who love to brush and braid our horse’s mane. There are so many models of braids that you can try. They will all look beautiful and special, so why don’t you go on and try it? Your horse would steal everyone’s attention and you could do an amazing fashionable photoshoot together.
