BREAKING NEWS: Insider reveals Pittsburgh Steelers’ 2025 quarterback plans.THANHDUNG

The Pittsburgh Steelers plan to bring quarterback Russell Wilson back next season, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reports. Wilson has struggled over the last three games, but Schefter says Wilson’s struggles do not deter the Steelers and still believe in him.

In an ideal world, the team might want to bring Wilson and Justin Fields back, but that depends on many factors. Their first plan is to get Wilson to re-sign, which could cost much money.

“They’d like to go ahead and keep Russell Wilson and re-sign him to keep him in Pittsburgh…There are two logical first-round quarterbacks in the draft. They’re not going to get either one of those. The top free-agent quarterbacks are going to be Sam Darnold and Russell Wilson. Is there another quarterback in the trade market that all of a sudden is going to spring free? Probably not. So this is where the Steelers are,” Schefter said.

So, it seems that Wilson’s play has earned him enough keep to bring him back next season. He is 6-4 as a starter with 15 touchdowns and 5 interceptions thus far. It is eerily similar to his stat line last year, where he had 26 touchdowns and 8 interceptions, but the down-to-down struggles continue to pop up.

How much Wilson wants will likely factor into how the Steelers view this quarterback situation, especially since Fields gave them solid play when he was the starting quarterback.
