Dodgers-Yankees Potential Trade Could Send Right-Hander to Replace Gerrit Cole..ANHTRUC.

The New York Yankees received crushing news earlier this week when it was announced that Gerrit Cole would miss the entire 2025 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery.

MLB Trade Rumors on X: "The #Dodgers are considering activating Tony Gonsolin for the NLCS: https://t.co/L9aB2Z8Pvo https://t.co/eeoXmsLUpK" / X

An abundance of talent and a deep pitching staff make the Los Angeles Dodgers an intriguing trade partner. That raises the question of whether they have anyone available who could help bolster New York’s starting rotation.

Reaching the World Series for the first time since 2009, the Yankees fell to the Dodgers in five games. Despite the tough injury setback before the 2025 season, they could remain competitive by acquiring another reliable pitcher.

One potential target is Tony Gonsolin, who is currently dealing with a back injury. Once he is healthy, the Dodgers might consider trading him since their rotation is already set.

When Shohei Ohtani returns to the mound, likely in May, Los Angeles will have five established starters who are unlikely to be moved. A possible trade package could send infielder Oswaldo Cabrera and right-handed prospect Will Warren to Los Angeles.

New York has several top-tier prospects they are reluctant to part with, but Gonsolin would provide an immediate boost to the rotation. At the same time, Cabrera has struggled to establish himself at the major league level.

This deal would address the Yankees’ pitching depth while giving the Dodgers valuable assets. Younger pitchers like Landon Knack and Justin Wrobleski could also be available. Both have MLB experience and have shown they can compete at the highest level.
