There has been an immense focus on the officials in the NFL recently with many fans claiming that certain teams receive favorable treatment from the referees.

The latest iteration is the school of thought that the upcoming NFC championship game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Washington Commanders is already fixed.

Some details emerged about the referees which have sent certain fans into a spiral. The NFL announced that Shawn Hochuli and his crew will work the NFC Championship Game between the Eagles and the Commanders, whilst Clete Blakeman‘s crew has been assigned the AFC Championship Game between the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs.

Unfortunately for the NFL, fans were quick to notice that the Eagles are 6-0 in games that Hochuli has been in charge of since Nick Sirianni become the coach in 2021. Whilst that is almost certainly a coincidence, Commanders fans are not impressed.

A mistake from Hochuli in the past

Adding further fuel to the fire, there was a Week 15 incident where Hochuli and his team failed to stop the clock at the end of a Commanders game against the New Orleans Saints. The mistake allowed New Orleans to run another play and get a touchdown, though they missed the game-winning two-point conversion.

“How does hochuli get a Washington assignment after he rigged the saints game against them!,” one fan asked.

Hochuli reffing the eagles game you had a good run Washington,” said another.

“As @Orandy587 correctly pointed out, commanders are so screwed with Hochuli as their ref. Both bills and dolphins fans know Hochuli is a massive Eagles fan,” one fan quipped.
