The Detroit Lions continue to chip away at their own free agency class. On Wednesday, they announced that they’ve re-signed guard Netane Muti.
Last year, the Lions signed Muti to a futures deal back in February after he finished the season on the Las Vegas Raiders’ practice squad. Muti entered training camp with a legitimate shot to win one of Detroit’s reserve offensive linemen spots, but he suffered a shoulder injury early in the summer and was placed on injured reserve, ending his season.
“It’s a shame that we lost Muti because he was really coming on, his physicality showed up earlier this week,” then Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson said at the time of his injury.
Despite losing the season to injury, Muti hung around the Lions’ practice facility all season. He was a regular in the locker room during media sessions, and stayed connected with his teammates and coaches.
Muti was set to become an unrestricted free agent in March, but the Lions wasted no time in making sure he stays around another season. Entering 2025, here’s what the Lions’ offensive line depth looks like for players still under contract:
- LT Taylor Decker
- RT Penei Sewell
- OT Giovanni Manu
- OT Colby Sorsdal
- OT Jamarco Jones
- G Graham Glasgow
- G Christian Mahogany
- G Netane Muti
- C Frank Ragnow
- C Kingsley Eguakun
The following are offensive linemen facing free agency:
- OT Dan Skipper
- RG Kevin Zeitler
- G/C Michael Niese (ERFA)
