Because he was so hungry, a 6-year-old boy in India had to grab a female dog by the leg and suck milk instead of food.
“My family is very poor, I often go hungry. The dog never bites me. I love him very much and he does. He treats me like his own child. I love playing with dogs, they are like my friends,” Chotu said.
After his father passed away 4 years ago, the Chotu family fell into poverty. Chotu’s brother, although only 14 years old, has to work to earn money to support the family. However, the boy can only earn less than 20 pounds a month (about 650,000 VND).
Chotu’s mother and grandmother also had to go collect dry firewood and find food in the forest, but the family’s daily meals consisted of only vegetables and roti bread.
About 2 years ago, Chotu started spending a lot of time playing with the dogs. Because there is no money to go to school, Chotu has no friends and only sees dogs as friends. For many days, the family had no food or milk to drink, until one morning, Shanichari was startled to see her son sitting on the floor and sucking milk from a bitch.
“I was so shocked. I ran over and pulled him out. But since then, whenever he’s hungry, he does. I couldn’t stop him anymore, because I knew he was very hungry. The dog was also very hungry. She was gentle and never attacked it. Chotu also often rode on its back and suckled milk with the puppies,” Mirror quoted Shanichari as saying.
However, when the villagers discovered that Chotu often played and drank milk from this stray dog, they were very worried and afraid that Chotu might get rabies and spread it to other children. .
“The villagers used to tell me that he might die if he continued to drink dog milk and infect the children in the village. But Chotu continued to drink dog milk,” added Shanichari.
Finally the villagers reported Chotu’s case to the authorities and they got involved. Chotu was accepted into the school, where he was given a free lunch. In addition, Chotu’s family is also given a food card to receive food aid every month.
Even so, the female dog often visited Chotu and the boy drank her milk as a habit. “I suck it three times a day. Dog milk is as sweet as sugar. Many people in the village don’t like me playing with dogs, but I’m happy. If it doesn’t come to my house, I’ll go look for it. The dog is always happy to see me and let me breastfeed,” Chotu happily recounted.
