North Korea is one of the fewest remaining communist countries in the world, which during the last years, similarly to China, is becoming more and more diplomatic. The president of the country is Kim Jong-un. Kim is the first North Korean leader who was born after the country’s founding and is also the second youngest currently-serving head of government in the world.

Apparently, one of his favorite things to do is riding horses, which you can see in the photos. North Korea’s state news agency said the dictator’s eyes were “full of noble glitters”. Let us remind you that he is not the first leader who rides horses.

10 years ago, the president of Russia, Vladimir Putin was photographed riding horses as well. I wonder who will be the next president to do so? The location where the photos were shot is Mount Baekdu. Mount Baekdu is considered a sacred mountain laden with symbolism, the mythical birthplace of the Koreans.

A volcano that straddles the Chinese and North Korean border — the Chinese call it Changbaishan — it is a central setting for North Korean propaganda, a place where soldiers are sent on pilgrimages to swear loyalty to their leader.
