As we’re well aware, our quartet of 3-month-old cheetah cubs – Amabala, Jabari, Hasani, and Erindi – have embraced their first encounters with meat at the close of May, displaying an eager appetite for their new diet. While they continue to receive their daily portion of ground beef, a recent addition to their culinary repertoire has taken place. Periodically, we introduce frozen-thawed rabbits into their meals, replicating the kind of prey that young cheetahs naturally consume in their wild habitats.

These carcass feedings are of utmost significance for the overall well-being of the cubs. The skin, fur, and bones of the rabbits provide a valuable source of fiber, playing a vital role in their digestive process. In addition, the internal organs offer a wealth of nutrients that contribute to the cubs’ healthy growth and development. This particular diet is particularly beneficial for strengthening their jaw muscles, ensuring they are well-equipped for the demands of their future lives as apex predators.
