“This is not my usual weight, but it’ll do until I get back to where I need to be,” the retired tennis star said in a new video about her progress
Serena Williams is starting to train at the gym.
Since welcoming her second child in August, Williams, 42, has started working out again — and documenting it for her 17 million Instagram followers.
The retired tennis star’s video features her performing squats with dumbbells at a lighter weight than usual.
“Okay, I’m getting back into the swing of things,” the 23-time Grand Slam champion said in her Jan. 26 Instagram Reel, soundtracked by the artist “My Name Is” Don hip-hop. “This is not my usual weight, but it will be fine until I get back to where I need to be.”
After a few squats, Williams declared, “Feels good,” with a laugh before placing the barbell back on the rack and letting out a “woo!”
The video comes five months after Williams gave birth to daughter Adira River, who is her second child with her tech entrepreneur husband, Alexis Ohanian. They welcomed their first daughter, Alexis Olympia, in 2017.
