Joey Bosa Cut by Chargers, Expresses Interest in Joining San Francisco 49ers

In a shocking move, the Los Angeles Chargers have officially released star pass rusher Joey Bosa, ending his tenure with the team after eight seasons. The decision comes as part of the Chargers’ efforts to clear cap space and reshape their roster heading into the 2025 NFL season.

According to multiple reports, Bosa is now eyeing a potential move to the San Francisco 49ers, where he could reunite with his younger brother, Nick Bosa, forming what would be one of the most dominant defensive duos in the league.

Pairing Joey and Nick Bosa together would give San Francisco one of the most dangerous edge-rushing tandems in NFL history. The brothers played together in college at Ohio State, but have never had the opportunity to share the field in the NFL.

“Playing with my brother would be a dream come true,” Bosa reportedly told sources close to the situation. “San Francisco has an incredible defense, and I think I could really help them make another Super Bowl run.”

While the 49ers are seen as the frontrunners, Bosa will likely attract plenty of interest in free agency. Other contending teams in need of a pass rusher—such as the Dallas Cowboys, Baltimore Ravens, and Philadelphia Eagles—could also make a push to sign him.
