Strongin, writes Cohn, has never been in a negotiation this big before.
“This negotiation is pivotal to Strongin’s career,” Cohn said. “It could spring board him into the NFL’s elite tier of agents if he gets Purdy a record-setting extension, or it could relegate him to the second or third tier of agents if the 49ers get the better of the deal.”
Given that Purdy is expected to earn upwards of $40 million per year (maybe up to $60M) and likely well more than $200 million total, Strongin is vital to these proceedings.
It’s likely that the 49ers at least know his name, but most of the sports world doesn’t.
But as Cohn writes, there’s a lot of pressure on the agent to get the best deal he can for Purdy.
