San Francisco 49ers Strengthen Future Roster with Key Signings

The San Francisco 49ers announced on Tuesday the signing of four players to future and reserve contracts, signaling their commitment to bolstering their roster for the upcoming seasons. Among these new additions is offensive lineman Isaac Alarcón, whose journey to the NFL has been nothing short of inspiring.

Isaac Alarcón: A Rising Star from Monterrey

Isaac Alarcón, a 26-year-old offensive lineman, began his football career playing college football at the Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico. He joined the 49ers last year and spent the entire season on their practice squad, showcasing his potential during the 2024 preseason games. His hard work and dedication have earned him this new opportunity to further develop within the 49ers’ system.

49ers starting offensive tackle Colton McKivitz has spoken highly of Alarcón, emphasizing the qualities that make him a valuable asset to the team.

“He’s a great addition to the group, with strong hands and a quick playstyle. He approaches the game as if he’s more advanced, and he’s eager to learn. That’s the most important thing about Isaac—he’s fast, strong, and constantly improving. I think he’s an excellent fit for our group,” McKivitz remarked.

An International Path to the NFL

Alarcón’s story began in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico, where he honed his football skills before entering the NFL in 2020 through the NFL International Player Pathway Program. He initially signed with the Dallas Cowboys, spending four years on their practice squad. His move to the 49ers last year marked a new chapter in his career, one filled with promise and growth.

Additional Signings to Strengthen the Squad

In addition to Alarcón, the 49ers also signed wide receivers Russell Gage and Isaiah Hodgins, along with offensive tackle Jalen McKenzie, to future contracts on Tuesday. These players bring a mix of experience and potential to the roster, complementing the team’s overall strategy for sustained success.

Earlier on Monday, the 49ers had already secured 11 additional players to similar contracts, further reinforcing their commitment to long-term development.

Building for the Future

The 49ers’ proactive approach in signing these players reflects their dedication to building a competitive and dynamic team for the future. By investing in talent like Alarcón and others, the organization demonstrates its focus on fostering growth and ensuring depth in key positions.
