As 2025 kicks off, Tom Brady has a New Year’s resolution that has fans chuckling and, of course, getting a bit nostalgic about his time with the New England Patriots. The NFL legend, who spent over two decades with the team, didn’t hold back when it came to poking fun at his old coach, Bill Belichick, during an appearance that has gone viral.-kid

Tom Brady once joked his New Year’s resolution was to be “as brave and courageous” as an NFL reporter who dared question Bill Belichick after he lost a game.

Brady has been retired from the professional world of football for almost two years now and is ticking by in his post-playing career by working as an analyst for FOX, covering some of the biggest games in the NFL. A busy year lies ahead for 47-year-old.

But before retiring, the former New England Patriots quarterback poked some fun at his old coach, Belichick.

In 2021, Belichick was still in charge of the Patriots, who had just suffered a 33-21 defeat at the hands of the Buffalo Bills in week 16 of the regular season. During a post-game press conference, the legendary coach was asked if he had any resolutions heading into the New Year.

His response was blunt and to the point, as he said: “Yeah, no, not right now. Maybe next week.”

Brady had a good laugh about this moment on the Let’s Go podcast with journalist Jim Gray, before answering the one thing he would like to change and stick to heading in 2022.

The ex-Patriots star said: “I want to be as brave and courageous as she was asking that question to coach Belichick after a loss. That’s what I want for the new year.”

Brady’s response at the time was extremely telling, given that he worked closely with Belichick over 19 years in New England. On the rare occasion when the Patriots lost with Brady at quarterback, it would be highly likely that the talented athlete would be at the full surrender of Belichick’s anger and emotions – as the now-72-year-old doesn’t favor anyone after a loss.

As we enter 2025, Brady’s playing days have long been left behind and he now often appears on the FOX NFL Sunday show, giving his expert advice on the league’s up-and-coming talent.

Belichick, meanwhile, resigned from the Patriots in 2023 and most recently signed a three-year deal to become the head coach of the North Carolina Tar Heels.
