In just a few days the Buffalo Bills will host the Baltimore Ravens in a rematch of a Week 4 contest that saw Lamar Jackson and company blow out the Bills 35-10.
Ahead of the contest, Bills head coach Sean McDermott admitted the matchup was one everyone wants to see. However, he understands what happened the last time the two teams shared a field.
“It’ll be a nice week, and everyone will be looking forward to it, and they’re a great football team,” he told reporters earlier this week. “They handled us pretty good the first go-around and they’re certainly playing well, well-coached. [Ravens coach John Harbaugh] won a Super Bowl and comes from great pedigree, so it’ll be a big challenge for us.”
As the game draws near, the Bills head coach received some major news. The Maxwell Football Club announced McDermott as the winner of the 36th Earle Greasy Neale Award as the Most Outstanding Coach in Professional Football.
“Established in 2001, the Greasy Neale Award is a distinguished honor in professional football, awarded annually to the NFL’s most outstanding head coach. This prestigious accolade recognizes exceptional leadership, strategic innovation, and significant impact on the game,” the Maxwell Football Club said about the honor.
“The Greasy Neale Award honors coaches who embody the visionary leadership, strategic excellence, and dedication that Neale exemplified throughout his career. By recognizing the top NFL coach each year, the award upholds Neale’s legacy, celebrating those who demonstrate exceptional skill in leading their teams to success.”
Last season Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell took home the award before the Lions fell to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC title game.
McDermott and company are hoping to reach just a bit further.
