Boston Celtics guard Payton Pritchard inks deal to join Converse

Boston Celtics point guard Peyton Pritchard good deal with converse the company announced Thursday. Pritchard joins Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Kelly Oubre Jr. as Converse grows its group of NBA athletes.

Pritchard, 27, is having one of his best seasons as a pro. He’s averaging a career-high 14.0 points per game in 28.3 minutes per action off the bench for the Celtics, and has been a key offensive spark for the reigning champions. The former Oregon Duck is one of the frontrunners to win the 2025 NBA Sixth Man of the Year award. And now Pritchard has a new sneaker deal to boot.

“As a player, I’m always looking for ways to push the boundaries of what’s possible, and Converse shares that same mindset,” Pritchard said in a press release announcing the news. “I’m excited to join the Converse Basketball family and help inspire the next generation of athletes to find their voice and express themselves on and off the court.”

Converse is based in Boston, and was once a staple in basketball. Larry Bird was famous for his iconic Converse shoes, and by linking up with guys like Pritchard, the company is hoping to connect with a new generation of players and fans.

“With a shared commitment to the sport and our community, Payton and Converse are poised to make an impact in the world of basketball, both here in Boston and beyond,” Converse CEO Jared Carver said. “As Converse Hoops continues to gain momentum, we’re excited to partner with Payton, amplify his passion and commitment to the game, and inspire a new generation of creatives to follow in his footsteps.”

Payton will wear the Converse All Star BB Trilliant CX for the remainder of the 2024-25 campaign. He and the Celtics will look to defend their title in earnest with the playoffs just a few weeks away.
