Brandon Beane gives insight on James Cook extension that Bills Mafia won’t like.THANHDUNG

The Buffalo Bills have had a terrific offseason thus far. They made a splash signing, adding Joey Bosa off the edge to give themselves a potential game-wrecker on defense. More notably, though, the Bills have rewarded several of their own players with big contract extensions.

Khalil Shakir, Terrel Bernard, and Greg Rousseau were all given four-year extensions after becoming home-grown stars in Buffalo. To top it all off, Buffalo gave Josh Allen a six-year, $330 million extension with an NFL-record $250 million fully guaranteed. This leaves running back James Cook and cornerback Christian Benford as the only other two big names in Buffalo in need of long-term extensions. General manager Brandon Beane was asked about this in an appearance on Fitz and Whit with Ryan Fitzpatrick and Andrew Whitworth. His answer didn’t give Bills Mafia much to be excited about.

“We’ve definitely had dialogue with those guys,” Beane said. “That’s probably as far as I would take it.”

Cook has been very vocal about wanting an extension through his actions on social media through a series of cryptic posts. And after a year in which he led the NFL in rushing touchdowns, he more than showed he is worth a big-money extension. The same can be said for Benford, who played as well as any cornerback in football in 2024. Both are deserving of new deals, but it will come down to whether or not the Bills get it done.
