Queen Creek, AZ – In an inspiring act of compassion and commitment to social change, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy has invested a staggering $3.5 million to transform a residential property into a living facility for homeless youth in Queen Creek, Arizona.
The project, which is already underway, aims to provide shelter, support services, and long-term opportunities for disadvantaged young people who are facing homelessness. According to a spokesperson close to the initiative, Purdy’s goal is to “do more than just write a check — he wants to build something that lasts.”
A Heart for the Community
Purdy, 24, who has rapidly risen to NFL stardom with his underdog story and remarkable performance for the 49ers, has often spoken about the importance of faith, humility, and service to others. This latest move signals a deep personal commitment to putting those values into action.
“This is bigger than football,” Purdy said in a brief statement released Tuesday. “Everyone deserves a safe place to sleep, a community that supports them, and the opportunity to thrive. If I can help create that, then I feel like I’m living out my purpose.”
The property, a sprawling estate in Queen Creek, will be renovated into a multi-unit living space with room for up to 25 residents. The facility will include not just bedrooms and common areas, but also a learning center, a counseling hub, and outdoor spaces for recreation and healing.
Focused on Youth in Crisis
Youth homelessness is a growing concern in the United States, with more than 4.2 million young people experiencing homelessness at some point each year, according to the National Network for Youth. Arizona has seen a sharp rise in these numbers in recent years, particularly in Maricopa County.
Purdy’s investment is being channeled through a new nonprofit he is founding, named Safe Haven Youth Project. The organization will partner with local schools, churches, and social services to identify at-risk youth and provide them with not just a roof over their heads, but also mentorship, education, and emotional support.
“Brock isn’t just building a house — he’s building a future for these kids,” said Michelle Ortiz, a community outreach director involved with the project. “He’s hands-on, showing up at planning meetings, asking the hard questions, and really trying to understand what these kids need to succeed.”
From NFL Star to Social Advocate
Drafted last in the 2022 NFL Draft — earning him the title “Mr. Irrelevant” — Brock Purdy has defied expectations both on and off the field. Known for his work ethic and poise under pressure, he led the 49ers through a series of impressive wins and quickly became a fan favorite.
Now, he’s channeling that same drive into addressing one of the most heartbreaking challenges facing today’s youth.
Purdy’s teammates and coaches have praised his character and heart. “Brock is as genuine as they come,” said 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan. “He’s always talking about giving back, staying grounded, and doing the right thing. This doesn’t surprise me — it just makes me proud.”
Looking Ahead
Construction is expected to begin in early summer 2025, with the facility projected to open its doors by spring 2026. Once complete, Safe Haven Youth Project hopes to replicate the model in other communities across the country.
In a time when many headlines in sports are dominated by controversy, Purdy’s actions serve as a powerful reminder of the positive influence athletes can have beyond the field.
“Football is my passion,” Purdy said. “But helping people — especially kids who’ve been dealt a tough hand — that’s my purpose.”
