Although the NFL season concluded Sunday following a Super Bowl matchup that saw the Philadelphia Eagles defeat the Kansas City Chiefs, Detroit Lions receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown already is looking ahead to next season.
On Tuesday’s episode of “The St. Brown Podcast,” the All-Pro receiver staked the Lions’ claim at facing the defending champions for Week 1 of the regular season. The conversation began following the brothers’ recap of Sunday night’s game, which allows Philadelphia to host a home opener on Thursday night of opening week.
“Can I read you a list of teams that could potentially be in that first game?” Amon-Ra asked his brothers.
“Read ’em”, Equanimeous said.
“Commanders, Cowboys, Giants, Bears, Lions, Raiders, Rams, Broncos,” Amon-Ra said. “Out of all those teams, like, if you’re the NFL, who are you putting in there?”

Equanimeous agreed with the Lions while middle brother Osiris said either Detroit or the Commanders.
“That’s what I’m saying,” Amon-Ra said. “So we might be playing them Week 1. At Lincoln Financial Field.”
After talking through the idea of how the Lions could be the better match up, Equanimeous said, “Then you could really see what would happen in an NFC Championship (game). ….”
Detroit and Philadelphia last met in Week 1 in Sept. 2022, when the Eagles pulled off a 38-35 victory. The last time the Lions faced a Super Bowl champion in Week 1 was in 2023 when they traveled to Arrowhead Stadium and defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 21-20.
