The Los Angeles Lakers did not put forth their best effort on Saturday night. With the No. 3 seed, Lakers hosting the No. 6 seed, Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round of the NBA playoffs, the home-court advantage quickly changed hands.
The Timberwolves handed the Lakers a 117-95 Game 1 loss, putting the ball in the Timberwolves’ court. Lakers fans collectively seem to be reeling, with some calling it their worst performance of the season.
The first round of this Western Conference playoff series, is best-of-seven, of course, but, the feeling surrounding Lakers Nation is still doom and gloom.
One long-tenured, Lakers superfan who’s been rooting the team on since the 1970s, is Flea, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame bassist from the Red Hot Chili Peppers. He was saddened by the Lakers’ Game 1 loss and took to social media to express himself with an emotional six-word message.
“Im sad that the lakers lost,” Flea posted on his official X account.
Flea, famously known as the bassist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, joined the rock band in the 1980s. However, his love for the Lakers can be traced back even further than his time with his Grammy Award winning rock band.

Flea has spoken before publicly of his history as a lifelong Lakers fan. He credits his mother for bringing him to his first game in 1975, at The Forum, right after the team acquired Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
Flea has remained a diehard Lakers fan, even performing the National Anthem inside Crypto.com Arena on multiple occasions (formerly known as Staples Center).
Outside of Luka Doncic, who scored 37 points in Game 1, the entire Lakers roster struggled. LeBron James finished with just 19 points, five rebounds, and three assists. James, and the Lakers, will have the chance to bounce back in Game 2 on Tuesday at 10 p.m. EDT.
