Earlier this week, I floated a potential trade idea that would send star outfielder Luis Robert Jr. from the Chicago White Sox to the Atlanta Braves in exchange for a strong group of prospects.

Braves receive: OF Luis Robert Jr.
White Sox receive: INF Nacho Alvarez Jr., RHP Drue Hackenberg, SS Jose Perdomo
With Jurickson Profar suspended—and ineligible for the postseason even after his return—the Braves are in serious need of an impact outfielder. Luis Robert Jr. fits that mold perfectly. He’s a dynamic player with 30/30 potential and remains under team control for several more seasons.
To acquire him, the Braves would likely need to part with a significant package. Nacho Alvarez Jr., Drue Hackenberg, and Jose Perdomo make up that return.
Hackenberg is a promising right-hander, but he’s currently stuck behind a crowded crop of pitching talent in Atlanta’s system. The Braves are expected to deal from that depth to upgrade their MLB roster, and this deal fits that approach.
Perdomo, while still raw at 18 years old, has flashed elite tools and could develop into a standout talent with time.
The centerpiece of the return, though, is Alvarez. Seen as a potential future replacement for Orlando Arcia at shortstop, he would be a tough loss. But the White Sox have shown more interest in acquiring position players than pitchers, making him a key piece in any deal for Robert.
If Atlanta wants to salvage its season and add a major spark to its lineup, this kind of trade could be a bold step in the right direction.
