BREAKING: Chiefs re-sign veteran TE to reserve future contract, marking second tenure with the team.

The Kansas City Chiefs were challenged during the 2024 season regarding their depth at tight end. Injuries to Jody Fortson and Jared Wiley pushed the team to reinforce the backend of the position behind Travis Kelce and Noah Gray.

This month, the team re-signed tight end Anthony Frikser to a reserve/future contract, keeping another veteran in the facility. The 30-year-old has played for several teams since going undrafted out of Harvard in 2017. His first stint in Kansas City was on the practice squad in November 2017; he later signed a reserve/future deal.

Frikser’s best tenure in the league was with the Tennessee Titans from 2018-2021, when he played in 58 games and caught 106 passes for 1107 yards and five touchdowns. He often played fullback out of the backfield for the Titans and briefly spent time with the New England Patriots, Atlanta Falcons, Detroit Lions, and New York Jets.

After spending last season primarily on the Chiefs’ practice squad and appearing in seven games, the front office continues to see his value heading into the offseason.
