Hall of Fame Pro Football player Deion Sanders expressed his disdain for the T-Step technique on NFL Network during a conversation with Bucky Brooks. As the current head coach at the University of Colorado, Sanders illustrated the move while critiquing it, saying, “Let me quickly show you how foolish the T-step is, Bucky.”
He further commented that he considered the maneuver “foolish” and claimed he would reprimand any of his players for using it. In response, Asante Samuel, another former NFL cornerback and fellow Florida State alumnus, disagreed with Sanders, even calling him “foolish.”
Samuel expressed amusement on social media, noting, “I can’t stop laughing at how ridiculous he sounds. You can’t control everything, sir. The first thing a cornerback learns is to never run out of breaks. Therefore, the T-Step is the ideal technique.” Sanders then responded online, saying, “Sir. Foolish. Lololol. God bless you, my brother.
Tell them what this is really about, sir. You’re always aiming high. Mickey Andrews (former Florida State defensive coordinator) is the one who taught us what I teach, and it seemed to work well for us. Peace be Still,” Sanders replied. Although Samuel was an exceptional cornerback, Sanders, with his iconic Gold Jacket, is often regarded as one of the greatest ever to play the position.
Additionally, Sanders is leading the University of Colorado’s football team, having guided them to a Bowl Game last season. As the college football season kicks off in 2025, Sanders aims for a second consecutive bowl appearance, with more controversies likely to follow.
