The NFL community continues to anticipate Aaron Rodgers’ potential move to the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the legendary quarterback recently fueled speculation that this transition is imminent. During a Q&A session with rapper Mike Stud, Rodgers was questioned about the possibility of playing for the Chicago Bears.
Having amassed a 24-5 record against the Bears throughout his 15 seasons as the Green Bay Packers’ starting quarterback (2008-22), Rodgers responded with a “no,” but hinted that “there’s a team visiting Chicago this year” for an “away game.” Aside from NFC North rivals (Packers, Detroit Lions, and Minnesota Vikings), the Bears are set to host the Dallas Cowboys, New Orleans Saints, New York Giants, Steelers, and Cleveland Browns in 2025.
Among these, the only team likely to seek an experienced quarterback like Rodgers is Pittsburgh. The Steelers’ quarterback roster currently features Mason Rudolph, who rejoined the team on a two-year contract, Skylar Thompson, and 2025 sixth-round pick Will Howard.
Last year, Rodgers recorded 3,897 passing yards, 28 touchdowns, 11 interceptions, and a 90.5 passer rating, with a completion rate of 63.0% while playing for the New York Jets, who released the four-time NFL MVP in March. Rodgers was spotted throwing to wide receiver and two-time Pro Bowler DK Metcalf, whom Pittsburgh acquired from the Seattle Seahawks in March, earlier in the offseason. The Steelers also brought in seasoned wide receiver Robert Woods, although they traded George Pickens to the Cowboys earlier this month.
Pittsburgh is coming off a 10-7 season, having lost its last five games, culminating in a defeat to the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC wild-card round. The Steelers saw quarterbacks Russell Wilson (12 starts in 2024) and Justin Fields (six starts in 2024) depart in free agency. This week, Steelers linebacker Alex Highsmith stated that the team waiting for Rodgers’ signing hasn’t been “a distraction at all.”
